Patsy J. “Chocolate” Silverio, 96, formerly of Chicora died Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born March 26, 1921 in Bradys Bend, he was the last surviving child of Panfilo and Anna (D’Angelo) Silverio.
Patsy was a Corporal in the US Army serving with the 829th Quartermaster Railhead Company during World War II. For his service, he was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Service Medal, the WWII Victory Medal and the European-African-Middle-Eastern Theater Service Medal. He was member of the American Legion Post #488 in Bradys Bend.
After returning from the war, Patsy married the former Audrey E. Bump. She preceded him in death, on March 18, 2014 after 67 years of marriage.
Patsy was employed at Michigan Limestone for 10 years and later, US Steel for 35 years. When his children were young, he enjoyed being a Boy Scout Leader and during the warmer months, could always be found in his garden. Patsy also enjoyed winemaking and hunting with his DeBacco nephews and their beagles.
He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Bradys Bend where he was an usher and member of the Young at Heart. Patsy also belonged to the Chicora Moose where he was a lifetime member and the Bradys Bend SOI where he was a lifetime member.
Patsy is survived by 3 daughters; Pamela Croft of Butler, Anna Silverio of Butler and Donna Geibel of Fenelton. 2 sons; Blaise Silverio and wife Catherine of Waldorf, MD, Chris Silverio and wife Andrea of Chicora, and 1 daughter in law, Rose Silverio of Meadville.
He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 Step-Grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Patsy was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Audrey, 2 sons; Patrick and Thomas Silverio, 2 son-in-law’s Jim Geibel and Peter Croft, 2 brothers; Pete and John “Jiggers” Silverio and 6 sisters; Grace DeBacco, Regina Fonzi, Christina Pascazi, Mary Pascazi, Jennie Steiner and Minnie Crawford.
Friends of Patsy J. Silverio will be received from 2:00-7:00 PM Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. 707 Kellys Way East Brady, PA 16028
A Parish Prayer Service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday in the Funeral Home.
A Veterans Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM Sunday in the Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, March 26, 2018 at St. Patrick Church, Bradys Bend with Rev. John Butler, officiating.
Committal, Military Honors and Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery.
