Shirley J. King, 87, of East Brady died Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Newhaven Court in Butler.
Born February 12, 1931 in East Brady, she was the daughter of Ernest and Marie L. (Remaley) Shea.
On November 11, 1949, Shirley married Carl Dean King Sr. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2018.
A lifelong member of the East Brady United Methodist Church, Shirley was the church organist for 69 years; only recently retiring. She was also very involved with the United Methodist Women and the Secretary for the East Brady Ministerium for a number of years. Shirley also was a member of the Eastern Star and sat on the board of the Eccles-Lesher Memorial Library.
Shirley’s life was centered around love for her family. Time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren at their various activities and sporting events, camping together in Cook Forest, crafting, quilting, cross stitch and reading at home were all activities she enjoyed.
She is survived by one daughter; Susan Bly and husband Bryan of Beaver Falls, two sons; Carl Dean “Rocky” King and wife Lynn of Bradys Bend, Ward King and wife Ruth of Ambler, PA, and one son-in-law, Henry Crawford of Bradys Bend.
Shirley is also survived by two sisters in law; Dorothy Mortimer and Winnie King, both of East Brady, and two brothers in law; Don (Peg) King of Brady Bend and Richard (Ressie) King of Lyndhurst, VA.
10 grandchildren; Noelle King, Doug King, Nick (Janis) King, Holly (Alex) Mayo, Chad (Valerie) King, Hank Crawford, Brett Crawford, Evan Crawford, Sandy (Andy Madden) Bly, Laura Bly. 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dean, one daughter, Sandy Crawford, one brother; Lewis and wife Grace Shea, one sister; Helen and husband Arthur Ward, and one infant granddaughter, Mary Elaine Crawford.
The King family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and thanks to the staff and nurses at Newhaven Court and Kindred Hospice, especially Rick; your kindness will never be forgotten.
A Memorial Service for Shirley J. King will be celebrated at a later date.
