Arthur W. Hillwig, 64, of East Brady passed away Saturday March 21, 2015 at UPMC St. Margaret surrounded by his family.
Born August 29, 1950 in East Brady, Art was the son of William A. and Dorothy R. (King) Hillwig.
On September 8, 1973 Art married Nancy S. Foust, she survives.
A veteran of the US Navy, Art served for 4 years as a Corpsman at several Naval Hospitals during the Vietnam Era.
Art was a 1969 Graduate of East Brady High School. He retired in 2006 from VA Healthcare in Butler after 34 years. For the past 7 years, he had been working for House Calls doing local construction.
In his earlier years, he loved to play softball and was a competition archer. He also coached little league, high school baseball, youth football, was a football referee and baseball umpire. He also loved golfing, fishing, hunting and spending time at the American Legion Post #488 where he was the Post Commander. His favorite thing in the world was spending time with his beloved granddaughter Raegan.
Art was a member of the East Brady United Methodist Church where served on several committees.
Surviving is his wife of 42 years Nancy Hillwig of East Brady, 2 sons Nathan S. Hillwig of East Brady and Bart W. Hillwig and his wife Traci of Elizabeth, PA. His beloved grandaughter Raegan Layne Hillwig of West Virginia, his mother and stepfather Dorothy and Laird Mortimer of East Brady and 1 niece Darcy Neidrick and husband Bill of Chicora.
He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Art was preceded in death by his father William A. Hillwig and his sister Cynthia Baughman.
Friends of Arthur W. Hillwig will be received 2-4, 6-8pm Tuesday March 24, 2015 at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. 707 Kellys Way, East Brady, PA 16028
A Legion Service will be held in the Funeral Home at 6pm Tuesday.
Funeral Services will be held 11am Wednesday March 25, 2015 at the East Brady United Methodist Church with the Rev. Craig Peterson officiating.
Military Honors and Burial will follow in Bradys Bend Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the Hillwig family asks that donations be made in Art's name to the East Brady United Methodist Church 418 Kelly's Way, East Brady, PA 16028
