With heavy hearts, but lifelong memories, we celebrate the life of Betty Jane Yates (Lorenz) who passed peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026, just three weeks short of her 90th birthday.
Though her passing brings much sorrow, we are comforted knowing Betty lived a life of strength, compassion, and Christian devotion most on display during her joyful participation with a variety of church choirs and organizations.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Betty’s love for God guided her throughout her life. She was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church for many years, faithfully serving as both an Elder and choir member. Through her service, fellowship, and unwavering commitment to her church family, she shared God’s love with others and left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Married to William A. Yates August 26, 1954, they shared 62 years of love and dedication until Bill’s death in 2016.
Betty is survived by her daughter Vickey (Joseph) Milligan, her grandchildren Joshua (Alicia) Shoemaker and Meghan (Toby) Hagedorn and five great grandchildren Nora Shoemaker, Abigail Shoemaker, Xavier Hagedorn, Sadie Hagedorn, and Isabella Hagedorn.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and brother William Frank Lorenz.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 707 Kelly’s Way, East Brady, PA 16028 with Rev. Raymond Eichler, officiating.
Burial will follow in Rimersburg Cemetery.
