Welcome to the memorial page for

Carino "Carl" A. Galassi

June 11, 1929 ~ July 2, 2014 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Carino "Carl" A. Galassi, 85, of Karns City (Roseville) died Wednesday July 2, 2014 at the VNA Hospice in Butler following an extended hospital stay.

Born June 11, 1929 in Bradys Bend, he was the son of Domenico and Assunta (Pigliacampo) Galassi.

On October 5, 1963, Carl married Anna L. Barger, she survives.

He served with the US Army as a Corporal during the Korean conflict.  He was a recipient of Korean Service Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, a United Nations Service Medal and an expert badge with rifle bar. Carl was a member of the American Legion Post #488 Bradys Bend.

Carl was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Bradys Bend.  He also served for many years on the St. Mary's Cemetery Maintenance Crew.

He worked for the US Steel Corporation for 20 years in Saxonburg as a boiler maker and later for Michigan Limestone in Bradys Bend.

Carl enjoyed gardening, yard work and attending Karns City High School Football games-he sat in same seat under the pressbox for every game.  Carl loved to read and enjoyed walking with the "Mrs." but above all, the greatest joy in his life came from his family and grandchildren; who were the light of his life.

He will be most remembered for his kindness, love and generosity.  He taught his children to be patient, giving people.  Carl's two favorite saying were "mind over matter" and "actions speak louder than words."

He is survived by his wife Anna Galassi of Roseville, 2 daughters Susan Reeves and husband Kevin of Kaylor, and Mary Ann Carlson and husband Mark of Bradys Bend.  1 son Domenic Galassi and wife Lorie of Kittanning.  7 grandsons, Kevin, Christopher, and Matthew Reeves, Lucas and Ben Galassi, and Logan and Spencer Carlson and 1 faithful furry companion Gabby.
Carl is also survived by 4 sisters Lucy DeCelestino, Florence (Victor) DeBacco, Jennie (Joseph) Stimac, and Angela Galsssi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Mary Galassi and Dora Yanoff, and 1 brother Warren Galassi.
