Dorothy R. Mortimer, 99, of East Brady died Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at her home.
Born November 25, 1922 in Phillipson, she was the daughter of Albert C. and Fonda Mae (Smith) King.
A 1940 Graduate of East Brady High School, Dorothy attended Beauty School and opened a salon in Parker, PA. She later owned and operated a salon in East Brady for many years.
Dorothy was first married to William A. Hillwig, he preceded her in death in 1962. Later, in 1977 she married K. Laird Mortimer. He preceded her in death in 2017.
A member of the East Brady United Methodist Church, Dorothy was a Sunday School Instructor for many years. She was also the Sunday School treasurer and active in the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed her church family and rarely missed an opportunity to help.
Dorothy enjoyed cross stitch, sewing and decorating her home for holidays. She loved sharing stories of growing up the only sister of six brothers, all of whom she adored.
Surviving is her daughter in law, Nancy Hillwig of East Brady; three grandchildren, Nate Hillwig of East Brady, Bart (Traci) Hillwig of North Huntingdon, Darcy (William) Neidrick of Chicora and three great grandchildren. Madison Neidrick, Taylor Neidrick and Raegan Hillwig.
She is also survived by two brothers, Donald (Peg) King of Bradys Bend, Richard (Ressie) King of Lyndhurst VA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one son; Arthur Hillwig, one daughter; Cynthia Bachman and four brothers; Bush, Bob, Bill and Dean King.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the East Brady United Methodist Church.
