James C. "Nemo" Bernard, 93, of East Brady died October 11, 2012 at the Sugarcreek Rest Home, Sugarcreek Twp., Armstrong Co.
Born February 28, 1919 in Bradys Bend PA, Jim was the son of Cornelius McBride and Margaret Bernard.
A 1936 East Brady High School Graduate, he was employed by the former RexHide Inc. in East Brady for 36 years. He also worked for PPG for 6 years.
On February 16, 1968, Jim married Mildred L. (McCanna) Snow. She preceded him in death on August 29, 2002.
A US Army Veteran, Jim served as a Technician 5th Grade with the 552nd Ordnance Heavy Maintenance Company Tank in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 488, Bradys Bend.
Jim was a member of the East Brady Baptist Church.
Jim was also a member of the former East Brady Quarterback Club and the Karns City Quarterback Club and he enjoyed hunting.
Surviving is 1 Step Daughter Sally L. Snow of East Brady. 2 Step Sons Kenneth L. and wife Deborah Snow of North Washington and Kevin L. and wife Tracy Snow of East Brady. 1 Step Son in Law James F. Unger of East Brady.
Jim is also survived by 4 Step Grandchildren, Michael Unger of Butler, Emily Snow of North Washington, Brittany Snow of East Brady and Patrick Snow of East Brady.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mildred L. Bernard, 1 Brother John Bernard and 1 Step Daughter Sandy Unger.
Friends of James C. "Nemo" Bernard will be received 2-4, and 6-8pm Sunday October 14, 2012 at the Charles Buechele Funeral Home 105 4th Street East Brady, PA 16028 where an American Legion Service will be conducted at 6pm.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am Monday October 15, 2012 at the Buechele Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Hillwig of the East Brady Baptist Church Officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Brady Bend where Military Honors will be accorded.
