James "Jumbo" Hillwig Obituary

James L. “Jumbo” Hillwig, 77, of East Brady died Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at his home.

Born December 20, 1942 in East Brady, he was the son of Theodore R. and Mary M. (McElravy) Hillwig. 

On June 13, 1969, Jumbo married the former Lois E. Leeger, she preceded him in death on July 13, 2007. 

Jumbo was employed by American Hardware in Butler for a few years, then spent his career as a plant manager for Marlo Chemical in Hereford, TX. 

A US Army Veteran, Jumbo served during the Vietnam Era.  He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the Rifle Marksman Badge.

Jumbo was a member of the American Legion Post #488 in Bradys Bend and was well known in the area as a Tootsie Roll Inn Softball player. 

He is survived by one daughter; Laurie Patsy and husband Tim of Bradys Bend and one son; James L. Hillwig and wife Darya of Amarillo TX. 

Jumbo is also survived by four grandchildren; Brad (Dawn) Patsy of Cowansville, Tiffany (Michael) Doran of Waldorf, MD, Kaiden (Chris) Rodriguez of Amarillo, Lexi Hillwig of Amarillo, a close sister and brother in law, Barb and Ron McGinnis of Karns City, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lois, one brother and two sisters.

Services for James L. “Jumbo” Hillwig will be private.  He will be buried in Bradys Bend Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., East Brady.
