Jay M. Weibel

Jay Weibel, loving husband, father, grandfather; son, brother, uncle, and friend; peacefully passed away at his home on August 10, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Jay was 70 years old. 

Born to Charles (Dick) Weibel and Betty Jean (VanDyke) on May 19, 1953. Jay graduated from East Brady High school in June of 1971 and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served for 8 years. He and his high school sweetheart Diana (Kiser) were married on Oct. 13, 1972. They shared 50 years of marriage together and shared their journey together through the Navy and beyond. Together they traveled the world as a Navy family along with their three wonderful sons, with Boston, MA., Newport, RI, with Puerto Rico being their favorite tours of duty. 

Jay was employed at Daman Industrial Services as a machinist for 25 years following his honorable discharge from the Navy. He was then employed at the VA Hospital in Butler until he had to retire in 2012 due to Esophageal Cancer. From there he led a good life. Jay was a simple, hardworking man who throughout his life enjoyed many hobbies. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and spending years in leagues. He was a hunter, fisherman, and not only enjoyed it himself, but also taught each of his sons how to do both and spent much time together. 

He loved to garden for many years and his greatest gardening enjoyment was spending time growing giant pumpkins with his son Cory. Together they grew many award winners! He enjoyed a good game of horseshoes and taught all his boys how to play sports. For many years he was the coach of several Little League teams, giving his time to mentor the young boys and girls in the East Brady area. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, he especially enjoyed a good game of poker and a cold beer. His greatest joy and pride was his family, always putting them first. 

Jay is survived by his wife of 50 years Diana, his son Jay Weibel Jr. and wife Amber of East Brady, Christopher and wife Shintrika of Clarion, and Cory of Parker.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Malynn & Ethan, Koen & Krew, Madison & Deegan. He is also survived by one brother, Steve Weibel and his wife Diane of East Brady, and one sister Kim Bole and her husband Mark of Rimersburg. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and extended family.  

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends of Jay Weibel will be received from 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 707 Kellys Way, East Brady, PA 16028

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 14, 2023 at the funeral home with Rev. Pete Sapp officiating.

Military Honors and Burial will follow in St. Eusebius Cemetery.

The Weibel family asks in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Jay’s name to the East Brady United Methodist Church 416 Kellys Way, East Brady, PA 16028.
