Larry K. Long

December 28, 1947 ~ April 22, 2014 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Larry K. Long, 66 of Karns City (Queenstown) died Tuesday April 22, 2014 at the Allegheny Valley Hospital.

Born December 28, 1947 in Sugarcreek Twp, he was the son of George H. and Kathryn E. (Posey) Long. 

Larry was a 1966 Graduate of East Brady High School.  Larry married Ella Mae Holler on December 23, 1967. 

He worked for the Rex Hide Inc. in East Brady for 9 1/2 years, Finley Brown Drilling Co. in New Bethlehem for 2 years, and Witco Chemical in Petrolia for 9 1/2 years.  Larry was also a Perry Township Supervisor for 5 years. 

Larry served during the Vietnam War in the US Army as a Specialist 5.  He was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ where he was a cook.  Later he was stationed in Germany as an Executive Chef.  He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, a Sharpshooter M-14, and the National Defense Service Medal. 

He was a member of the American Legion Post #488.  Larry was an avid coin collector, enjoyed woodworking and especially loved time spent with his grandchildren. 

Surviving are his wife Ella Mae Long of Karns City, 3 daughters Michelle Long of Karns City, Raquel Hornberger and husband Steve of Karns City, Melissa Moore and husband James of Karns City.  1 Son Larry Long Jr. and wife Kyndall of Parker.

5 Granddaughters Kayla (Jamie) Buzard, Stephanie Hornberger, Jenna Hornberger, Taylor Moore and Whitney Moore.  2 Grandsons Matthew Long and Grant Long.  1 Great Grandson Tucker Buzard and 1 Soon To Be Granddaughter Emma Moore. 

Larry is also survived by 4 sisters, Barbara (Charlie) Snyder of Butler, Linda (Larry) Campbell of Seybertown, Lisa (Danny) Kriebel of Parker, and Georgia Brewer of Butler.  1 Brother Donald (Jo Ann) Long of Cowansville and 1 Step Brother Tim (Tammy) Shirley of Kittanning. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Grace Shirley Long and 1 sister Kathryn

Friends of Larry K. Long will be received 2-4pm Saturday April 26, 2014 at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services 707 Kelly's Way East Brady, PA 16028. 

The American Legion Post #488 will conduct a military service at 2pm Saturday in the Funeral Home. 

Funeral Services will be held at 4pm Saturday from the Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Piper officiating.
