Myrtle B. Mortimer, 102, of East Brady died Tuesday January 22, 2013 at the William Penn Care Center, Jeannette, PA.
Born December 28, 1910 in Bath, SD, she was the daughter of Olaf E. and Lena J. (Holum) Hundstad.
Myrtle married Lee Mortimer on January 26, 1952, he survives.
A US Army Veteran, Myrtle served during World War II as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. She was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal.
Myrtle first attained a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Northern State Teachers College in South Dakota, she later attained a Master of Arts Degree from the University of Chicago, and a Master of Nursing Degree from Yale University.
She taught grade and high school in South Dakota, North Dakota and Montana. She was a visiting nurse for Minneapolis Community Health Services and a nurse at the Veterans Hospital in Hines, Ill.
Myrtle became a teaching nurse at Syracuse University and Butler Hospital. Later she was the school nurse at Butler High School.
She was a member of the East Brady United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband Lee Mortimer of East Brady, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 Sister Olive Haring.
Visitation and Funeral Services and Burial in Rimersburg Cemetery will be private.
