Phyllis L. Bortmes

Phyllis L. Bortmes, 83, of Chicora passed away Monday, September 8, 2025 at Butler Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side.

Born February 18, 1942 in Bradys Bend, she was the daughter of Joseph and Lucille M. (Liberto) Farone.

Phyllis was a 1961 graduate of East Brady High School and spent her working career at Riverside in the deli and at the Uni Mart.  She proudly introduced the breakfast pizza to the Uni Mart for all to enjoy.

Phyllis was an excellent cook and a master monopoly player.  She enjoyed playing cards and reminiscing about her teenage years, spending summers with family in Philadelphia.   

She is survived by her two sons, Harry E. (Beth) Bortmes of Butler, and Timothy J. (Jen) Bortmes of Pittsburgh.  She is also survived by four grandchildren, Meghan and Henry Bortmes, Andrew and Tyler Bortmes and one brother, Joe (Mary Jo) Farone of Chicora. 

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Toots Miller.

The Bortmes family would like to thank Tammie Cochran for her many years of compassionate care of Phyllis.  Your kindness will never be forgotten. 

Services for Phyllis L. Bortmes are private and held at the convenience of her family.  She will be buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bradys Bend.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., East Brady, PA.
