Preston H. Smith, 82, of Kittanning, died peacefully, Friday, October 11, 2024, at his home.
Born April 26, 1942 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Eugene W. Smith and Grace Kaylo. Preston was raised by his aunt, Lydia Culp.
A US Air Force veteran, Preston served as an Airman First Class. He earned an electrical engineering degree upon his discharge and spent a 35-year career with IBM as an IT technician.
Preston found joy in a simple life. He enjoyed hunting, tending his garden, mowing the lawn and golfing. He made great memories on trips to Myrtle Beach to golf with his friends, and spent his retirement years working at local golf courses. Above all, Preston loved time well spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda (Barker) Smith, whom he married July 15, 1966. One daughter, Tawnee Smith (Gerald Rupp) of Kittanning, two sons, Todd (Karen) Smith of Boyers, and Chad (Heather) Smith of Leechburg.
Preston is also survived by five grandchildren, Chelsey Lasher, Josh (Danielle) Lasher, Dylan Smith, Tanner Smith, Logan Smith, three great grandchildren, Braiden Lasher, Savanna Lasher, Aria Lasher, one brother Eugene (Linda) Smith of Lower Burrell, one brother in law, Tom (Mary Ann) Barker of Kittanning, three nieces, one nephew and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his aunt, Lydia Culp and his in laws, Jim and Genevieve Barker.

Per Preston’s wishes, all services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., East Brady, PA.
