Richard Peate Obituary

Richard O. “Rick” Peate, 69, of Worthington died Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Sugarcreek Rest.

Born September 13, 1956 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son on James J. and Margaret (Griffin) Peate.

A 1975 Worthington High School Graduate, Rick owned and operated Creekside Manor Personal Care home from 1980-1996.  He then found work as an insurance broker until his retirement.

For the past 15 years, Rick devoted himself as a loving and dedicated caregiver to his wife, Sue, following her stroke. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, scenic drives along backcountry roads, listening to country music, and relaxing on the patio with his wife and their beloved dog, Bella. Above all, Rick cherished time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Susan (Tully) Peate of Worthington, one daughter, Courtney (Joe Gaul) Peate of Worthington, one son, Chad Peate of Cabot, one step-son, Ian (Amy) Shinneman of Worthington and one step-daughter, Ashley (Matt) Hoss of Kittanning. 

Rick was a loving Papa to Alexis, Harper, River, Collier, Ella, Ben and Lily, his grandchildren. 

He is also survived by siblings, P. Diane Stover of FL, James Michael Peate of FL, Timothy Peate of Adrian, his brother-in-law, John Tully of New York and his beloved dog, Bella. 

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother-in-law, Dale Stover  

At his request, all funeral services for Richard O. “Rick” Peate will be private.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., East Brady, PA. 

The Peate family suggests that memorials in Rick’s name may be made to the Laube Cancer Center, One Nolte Drive, Kittanning, PA 16201.
