Richard D. Wiant, 75 of Clarion, PA died Monday September 3, 2012 at UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh.
Born May 15, 1937 in Tarentum, PA, he was the son of Robert W. and Eleanor J. (Davis) Wiant.
A 1955 Graduate of Clarion Area High School, Dick married Bonnie Lee (Polinak) Wiant on December 19, 1964. She survives.
Dick was employed by General Electric in Brookpark, OH for 10 years. Then after moving back to Clarion, he was the Maintenance Supervisor for Commodore Home in Shippenville for 25 years.
A US Army Veteran, Dick served as a Quartermaster with the 7th Army. He was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ and Fort Stutgart, Germany. He was member of the Clarion American Legion Post #66.
Dick was a 32nd Degree Mason from the Parma Lodge in Ohio. He was also a member of the Clarion County Shriners.
An avid bowler, Dick was a member of numerous Clarion area bowling leagues. He enjoyed hunting, and his morning coffee at the Country Fair with friends.
Dick will be always admired by his family for his ability to fix any appliance or machine. He truly was a Jack of All Trades.
Surviving is his wife Bonnie L. Wiant of Clarion. 1 Son Thomas L. Wiant and wife Jenna M. Buechele of East Brady, PA. 2 Daughters Denise A. Fish and companion Kenneth L. Morgan of Cheswick, PA and Heather J. Evans and husband Dave T. of Ewa Beach, HI.
4 Grandsons, David, Michael and Caleb Evans, and Braden Fish.
1 Granddaughter Destiny Morgan.
6 Brothers Robert, Jim, John, Art and Paul Wiant. And David Menge
2 Sisters Joan Pletcher and Betty Preston
Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Dick is also survived by his favorite furry friend, Starr the dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son Timothy C. Wiant.
Friends will be received 5-8pm Friday September 7, 2012 at the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street Clarion, PA 16214
Funeral Services will be held at 8pm Friday at the Funeral Home with Pastor Marsha Mahle of the Miola and Fisher Presbyterian Churches.
In Lieu of Flowers, Dick's family asks that donations be made to the Clarion PAWS 22592 Route 68, Clarion, PA 16214
