Robert J. DeBacco, 86, of Sugarcreek Twp., died Saturday, March 13, 2021 at his home.
Born November 6, 1934 in Bradys Bend, he was the son of Paul and Grace (Silverio) DeBacco.
On June 28, 1958, Bob married the former Elizabeth “Betty” Gershak; she survives.
Bob began his working career at Harcliff Coal for eight years, then retired from WITCO after thirty-eight years of service.
A US Army Veteran, Bob served our country during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged as a Private-1.
Bob was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Bradys Bend where he sang in the choir. An honorary member of the Hilltop Beagle Club and a life member of the Bradys Bend SOI, he had a passion for baseball and the Pittsburgh Pirates and participated in two of their Fantasy Camps. Bob also enjoyed making homemade wine, was an avid hunter and, during the warm months, could often be found in his abundant vegetable gardens.
He is survived by his wife Betty DeBacco of Sugarcreek Twp., one son, Timothy and wife Susan DeBacco of Oakmont, and two granddaughters; Sophia and Cassandra DeBacco.
Bob is also survived by four brothers, Ralph DeBacco, Ronald (Jane) DeBacco, Dominic (Yvonne) DeBacco, Louis (Mary) DeBacco, one sister, Loretta (Francis) Posey and one sister in law, Florence DeBacco.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Victor DeBacco, and two sisters, Ann Andreassi and Fanny Greenawalt.
At Bob’s request, there will be no visitation.
A Memorial Mass for Robert J. DeBacco will be celebrated at 11:30 AM Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. Victor Baguna officiating. All CDC guidelines will be followed.
Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The DeBacco family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Bob’s name to St. Patrick Church 915 State Route 68, East Brady, PA 16028.
