Violet "Joan" Miles, 79 of East Brady died Tuesday October 2, 2012 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler, PA. 

Born August 6, 1933 in Queenstown, PA, she was the daughter of Harry E. and Alice E. (Bowser) Crawford.

A Graduate of East Brady High School, she married David Gene Miles on February 17, 1951.  He survives. 

Joan was an active member of the East Brady United Methodist Church.  She was a former member of the United Methodist Woman. 

She was also a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #402 East Brady.

Joan enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and knitting.

She is survived by her husband David Gene Miles  of East Brady.  1 Daughter Amy and husband Rick Snyder of Cumberland, ME.  3 Sons David Gene Miles, Jr. of East Brady, Tim and wife Jeanne Miles of East Brady, Drew and wife Betty Miles of Bullard, TX. 

Joan is also survived by 2 sisters Janice and husband Henry Hall of Butler and Phyllis and husband Frank Zavilla of Hillville, PA.  1 Brother Jim and wife Connie Crawford of Queenstown. 
2 Sister-In-Law's Doris Crawford of Queenstown and Bertha Jean Miles of Butler

10 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 Brother Donald Crawford, 2 Sisters Shirley Beabout and infant Bonnie Crawford. 

Funeral Services for Violet "Joan" Miles will be held 10am Thursday October 4, 2012 at the East Brady United Methodist Church with the Rev. Craig Peterson. 

Private burial in Bradys Bend Cemetery will follow. 

The Miles' family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the East Brady United Methodist Church C/O the Handicap Chair Lift Fund.  418 Kelly's Way East Brady, PA 16028
