William M. Serich, 80, a resident of Chicora Medical Center, formerly of Fairview Twp, the Karns City area, died Sunday January 8th at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Born November 5, 1931 in Perry Township, Armstrong County, he was the son of Mirko and Mary B. (Bompage) Sirich.
Bill was an Equipment Operator for Dick McCall Excavating in Petrolia for over 40 years.
A Veteran of the US Army, Bill served with the 13th Engineering Battalion during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star and the Meritorious Unit Citation.
Bill was a member of the American Legion Post #488 in Bradys Bend, and the VFW Post #7132 in Rimersburg.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and nature walks.
He was a member of St. Patrick RC Church in Bradys Bend.
Surviving are 3 Brothers: Greg Serich of Harrison MI, Robert Sirich of Butler, and Stephen Sirich and wife Lois of Perry Township, Armstrong County.
1 Sister: Barbara E. Serich of Chicora.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 Brothers and 4 Sisters.
Friends will be received 2-4, 7-9pm Tuesday January 10, 2012 at the Charles B. Buechele Funeral Home 105 4th Street, East Brady, PA 16028
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30am Wednesday January 11, 2012 at St. Patrick Church, Bradys Bend with Rev. Ron Cyktor, Pastor, St. Patrick Church.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bradys Bend
The American Legion Post #488 will hold a Veterans Memorial Service Tuesday at 7pm in the Funeral Home. Military Honors will be conducted Wednesday.
A Parish Prayer Service will be held Tuesday in the Funeral Home.
