Marie Shumaker Evankovich, 85, of Cove Run (Bradys Bend Twp.) died Thursday April 7, 2016 at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born September 2, 1930 in Erie, PA, she was the daughter of Paul and Anna (Safin) Sorokes.

On February 3, 1951, Marie married Duane K. Shumaker.  He preceded her in death on June 6, 1979.  Marie married Michael Evankovich on October 6, 1984.  He survives.

In earlier years, Marie owned and operated Shumakers Restaruant and Lounge in Fairview Twp. 

Marie was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Bradys Bend where she was a member of the Young at Heart, the Altar Rosary Society and sang in the choir. 

She enjoyed keeping a home and sewing.

Marie is survived by her husband Michael Evankovich of Cove Run, 2 sons Michael Shumaker and wife Diana of Karns City, Kenneth Shumaker and wife Molly of Haines City, FL, and 2 step daughters Irene Gaiser and husband James of Cove Run, Grace Henry and husband Larry of Butler.

She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Amy (John) Fierst, Christopher Shumaker, Clarissa Shumaker, 5 step-grandchildren, Jennifer Gaiser, Jarrod (Angie) Gaiser, Beth Ann (Joseph) Jackson, Kristen Henry and Christopher Henry. 2 great grandchildren, Lilliana and Alaina Fierst and 1 step great grandchild Harlow Gaiser.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duane, 1 daughter Deborah Ann, 7 sisters and 4 brothers.

Friends of Marie Evankovich will be received 2-4, 6-8pm Sunday April 10, 2016 at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. 707 Kellys Way East Brady, PA 16028

A parish prayer service will be held at 3 PM

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Monday April 11, 2016 at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Bradys Bend with Rev. John Butler officiating.

Private burial will follow in Bear Creek Cemetery.
