Michael A. Cassese, 85 of Tidioute, PA formerly of Brook Park-Huntington Twp, OH, died Thursday December 24, 2015 at his home.
Born January 30, 1930 in Bradys Bend PA, he was the son of Vito and Maria G. (Mignemi) Cassese.
On July 3, 1954, Mike married the former Phyllis L. Slaugenhaupt. She preceded in him death in February 2007.
Mike was employed by Phoenix Dye Works in Cleveland for 15 years, he then owned and operated "The Canteen" tavern in Wellington, OH for 10 years. He later retired from Harshaw Chemical in Elyria, OH after 10 years.
A faithful Catholic, Mike was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church in Tidioute. He was involved with the Tidioute Lions Club where he held a variety of offices. He was an integral part of the Lions Club recycling program.
Mike was a member of the Tidioute Senior Center and a life member of the National Rifle Association. As an avid fisherman, hunter and sportsman, Mike held the largest antlered deer record, taken in the Bradys Bend area, with 165.7 points for many years.
A veteran of the US Army, Mike served as Corporal from 1951-1953. He was past commander of the American Legion Post #610 in Brook Park and a member of the Amvets Post #162.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Susan and husband Greg Arnold of Medina, OH. Kaye and husband Harlan Spector of Shaker Heights, OH. 1 son Clint and wife Shelley Cassese of Solon, OH.
Mike is also survived by 2 granddaughters Lauren Spector and Katherine Cassese, 2 grandsons Michael Cassese and Daniel Spector, and 1 sister Mary Cassese of Bradys Bend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis, 1 sister Carmella Bevcich and 5 brothers, John (Hoot), Tony, John (Popeye), Jim and Sam.
Friends of Michael A. Cassese will be received 11:30AM-1:30PM Tuesday December 29, 2015 at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. 707 Kellys Way East Brady, PA 16028
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2PM Tuesday at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. John Butler officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded after mass.
